THE SANTA PONÇA COASTLINE PROMENADE PROJECT WILL IMPROVE THE FIRST LINE OF SEA ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BEACH THAT IN THESE MOMENTS IS IN A STATE OF DETERIORATION
Tomorrow the acceptance of the conditions and prescriptions included in the resolution of Costas is taken to Plenary, whose authorisation to start the works of the first phase has already been received by the Town Hall
The objective is to achieve the landscape regeneration of the seafront with the contribution of natural rock and native vegetation, as well as to facilitate pedestrian traffic on the first sea line
The Calvià Town Hall will shortly begin the first phase of the construction of a new stretch of pedestrian promenade along the north side of Santa Ponça beach, specifically in the section that goes from the beginning of the beach promenade (at the Empathia restaurant level) to a little beyond the dock.
The objective of this action is to achieve the landscape regeneration of the maritime front of the area with the contribution of natural rock and native vegetation, as well as to facilitate pedestrian traffic on the first line of the sea. It is intended to restore this stretch of coast so that it resembles more of its old appearance, and at the same time make it more attractive so that both residents and visitors can walk with greater comfort and safety.
The works will consist of the execution of a walk of about 150 linear metres with a minimum width of 2 metres. A wooden platform will be installed approximately 20 centimetres above the ground, so it is expected that the old concrete will be removed to replace it with a type of "technological" wood, which is not so affected by sea salt. Since the walk has a winding route, wider sections and viewpoints will be located in different areas and the route will be completed with green spaces on each side and ground level lighting.
The term of execution of the work, which was awarded for € 382,529.50 (VAT included), is three months.
Tomorrow is taken to plenary, the acceptance of the conditions and prescriptions included in the resolution of the General Directorate of Sustainability of the Coast and Sea of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, whose authorisation, for the start of the works, which was the procedure that was pending, has already been received by the Town Hall.
