Visit to the 'Exceptional women in the field of Education and Women teachers of Calvià' exhibition and tour through the old girls' schools of Calvià
A guided visit to the 'Exceptional women in the field of Education and women teachers of Calvià' exhibition, which can be seen in Calvià Town Hall, has taken place today within the framework of the activities programmed for Women's Day. Subsequently, a tour through the former public girls' schools of Calvià village, guided by Professor Manel Suàrez Salvà, was carried out, and in which a plaque was placed symbolically on the doors where these schools were located.
The mentions to the teachers who were referents in the village of Calvià are included in an article of the Entorn magazine presented last Friday: Antònia Oliver, Antònia Estelrich Simó, Maria Salvà Estelrich, Catalina Fiol Gelabert, Maria Herrero Estela, Maria del Carme Calabuig Tomàs and Maria Salvador Senchermés. The visit was attended by descendants of some of the teachers whose memory has survived amongst the schoolgirls for their advanced teaching methods, despite the difficulties.
