The Calvià's international mountain race was held this morning at the Galatzó Public Estate. The competition, refereed by the Federació Balear de Muntanya i Escalada (FBME), has gathered 650 athletes, with 15% of foreign participants.

A spectacular day of sunshine greeted the 650 participants of the first edition of the Galatzó Trail.

With a pleasant temperature and practically without wind, the perfect conditions were given to enjoy a great trail running event at the Galatzó Estate.

The participants of the Galatzó Legend mountain marathon left Sa Vinya square in Es Capdellà at nine o'clock in the morning with the aim of overcoming the more than 2,200 metres of positive slope and the 4,350 metres accumulated by running one of the the most emblematic places of the Serra de Tramuntana, the Galatzó Estate, and complete the demanding 43 kilometre-race. One hour later, at ten in the morning, it was the turn of the Galatzó Half participants, who completed a 23 kilometre-route.

The participants of the 43 kilometre-race left Sa Vinya to go firstly to the emblematic Puig de Galatzó (1027 metres). Once the first top, the most technical of the race, was crowned, the runners started a steep descent to finally crown the mountain of s'Esclop (927 metres). From there, they went towards the houses of the Galatzó Estate to start a new ascent phase and subsequent descent to Ses Planes. After overcoming the mountains and after facing the 4350 metres of accumulated slope, the finishers took the last three kilometres to reach the finish line.

As for the 23 kilometre-race, the participants also left from the Galatzó Estate to go towards es Comellar de ses Sínies, and from there ascent to es Galatzó, without reaching the top, to continue through the Boal de ses Serveres and sa Coma del Vidal, from there they started the return to the Galatzó estate to reach the finish line in es Capdellà.
