Agreement with RANA Foundation

 Thursday 12th April 2018

CALVIÀ WILL WORK ON THE PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE IN THE SPORTS AND TOURISM SCOPE

The Town Hall and RANA Foundation sign, for the third consecutive year, a collaboration agreement for the protection of children

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has signed, for the third consecutive year, a collaboration agreement with the president of the RANA Foundation (Help Network for Abused Children), Elizabeth Homberg, in the framework of the work that is being carried out from the Town Hall for the protection of children, specifically in the area of prevention of child abuse and mistreatment, providing tools and resources for children and adolescents, as well as families and professionals. The signing event was attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the councillor of Social Welfare, Mayte Albertí; the general director of Social Development and Equity, Ana Pérez, and the director of RANA, Pilar Sevilla.

In 2017, thanks to the agreement with RANA, prevention of child abuse activities have taken place with about 600 people: 367 students from elementary schools; 148 from the IES Calvià; 20 local police officers and 47 health professionals.

From this collaboration with the non-profit entity, it has been possible to work from different prisms. Thus, the first year the task was focused on the educational field. The second year was extended and, in addition,  professionals in the field of health and  local police officers  were trained.

And this third year is also intended to reach the sports and tourism field, offering training to both working people and sports clubs.
