THE FIRST ELECTRIC SWEEPER OF THE MUNICIPALITY OPERATES IN CALVIÀ VILLAGE AND ES CAPDELLÀ, THAT WILL NOW SWITCH FROM MANUAL TO MECHANICAL CLEANING
Calvià 2000 has transformed the street cleaning system of Calvià village and es Capdellà, going from manual cleaning with two workers, to doing it mechanically, with an electric sweeper -the first one operating in the municipality-, a driver operator and a worker that handles an electric blower.
This change has two great advantages: on the one hand, mechanisation increases the quality and intensity of street cleaning, and on the other, it incorporates new electrical machinery, the first of this sustainable technology throughout the municipality.
The new 2 m3 electric light sweeper offers numerous advantages over traditional ones powered with fossil fuel. In terms of the environment, CO2 emissions, harmful gases and dust released into the environment are reduced. Acoustic emissions are also minimised.
In addition, the new machine is narrower than the traditional ones, with the aim of circulating and handling better in the narrow streets of the urban area, being able to access more easily to smaller and narrow spaces.
Even the maintenance costs, having fewer power breakdowns, decrease considerably, and in the same way the dangers and risks by low voltage technology are reduced.
Regarding its autonomy, with this sweeper a full work shift without power reloading can be completed. Its cost is 146,668 euros.
