Information from Calvià Town Hall following statements on the sea water colouring at Portals
Taking into account some assertions that are being made in the Terraferida social networks, about the dyed green waters of Portals, the Calvià Town Hall informs that, far from what is affirmed, this colouring is not related to the purification nor to any mass tourism problem, but is due to the existence of a microalgae that arises when the water temperature rises significantly and due to the scarce water renovation due to the current weather conditions.
Likewise, the Town Hall informs that the Bendinat sewage treatment plant does not suffer any collapse, in fact, for more than a month it has not poured water into the sea but the entire wastewater flow is regenerated in the tertiary system of this station and used in watering gardens. It has also been verified that there has been no punctual spillage.
The Calvià Town Hall regrets that information is published, through social networks, without contrasting reality, as they are serious claims for a tourist municipality such as Calvià for the alarm they may cause.
