Miquel Calent at IFOC's 'showcooking'

 Friday 21st September 2018

CHEF MIQUEL CALENT'S SHOWCOOKING, ORGANISED BY THE INSTITUT DE FORMACIÓ I OCUPACIÓ DE CALVIÀ

Today, the sala Palmanova in Calvià has been the scenario of the 'local products with Mallorcan wines'
showcooking-pairing, conducted by the renowned chef Miquel Calent, owner of the restaurants Can Calent and Cuit.

This first day of demonstration, which was attended by 30 people, was organised by the Calvià Town Hall through the Institut de Formació i Ocupació de Calvià (IFOC). During the showcooking, cuisine and wine have been merged through a demonstration of 'tapas' made with his modern vision of the Mallorcan, seasonal and with local products cuisine. Each tapa was paired with a local wine, accompanied by the corresponding oenological explanations of the IFOC's teacher, Pablo Serrano, professional and teacher of renowned experience in many training centres of the island in the field of catering and hospitality.

The main objective of this event is to bring together two sectors that are priorities in the municipality in terms of employment: on the one hand, the services sector and, on the other, the primary sector where agriculture and local products are framed (the so called 'kilometre zero').

Looking ahead to next year, the IFOC plans to continue with activities that allow connecting work and professional qualification aspects with local products and kilometre zero, as differentiating elements for the municipality's tourism offer.
