The common grave of Calvià cemetery will be opened next Tuesday 9th October, as part of the 2018 Exhumation Plan of the Balearic Islands Government, promoted by the General Directorate of Participation and Democratic Memory. The team of experts will carry out exhumation works for about three weeks, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. People interested in visiting the pit and learn about the works can go at any time. In addition, a detailed explanation of the work carried out during the day will be given every day at 5.30 p.m.

During the last quarter of 1936 and in the middle of the Civil War, the roads of Calvià, the beach of Palmanova and el Caló d'en Pellicer, as well as the cemetery, were locations where multiple murders were carried out – at least 22 documented- not only Calvià citizens, but also men from other villages and a woman. According to the investigations of Manel Suárez Salvá and irrefutable documentation, at least five bodies were found in front of the cemetery door, bodies that were probably buried in what was then called "fossa de terra" (ground/earth pit). In the following five years the murders continued with 50 more victims.
