Tuesday 17th September 2019

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL AND FUNDACIÓ DEIXALLES SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR THE ASSIGNMENT OF A MUNICIPAL PLOT

The entity will build a waste prevention and social inclusion centre

The mayor of Calvià, Afonso Rodríguez Badal, and the general director of Fundació Deixalles, Francesca Maria Martí, have signed an agreement whereby the Town Hall freely grants a plot for 30 years to the Fundació Deixalles for the construction of a waste prevention and social inclusion centre.

The new building, whose construction will be carried out by Fundació Deixalles, will be located on the plot of 28 Illes Canàries St., at the Son Bugadelles industrial estate and will have an area of about 1,990 m2. The facilities will host social, welfare and environmental activities, incorporating innovative waste prevention and reuse environmental activities.

The new Calvià facilities will strengthen the activity that Fundació Deixalles is currently carrying out with the realisation of training actions on prevention, reuse and recycling; the sale of reusable objects; a new exhibition space to facilitate information and carry out recreational activities aimed at environmental awareness, and the creation of a space for the reception of reusable objects, amongst others.

The agreement-signing event was attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés; the councillor for Social Development, Maria Carmen Rojano; the president of Fundació Deixalles, Josep Falcó, and the director of the Occupational Service of the Fundació, M. Carmen Medina.
