THE GOVERNMENT TEAM TAKES TO THE PLENARY SESSION THE MODIFICATION OF THE MUNICIPAL NOISE REGULATION THAT WILL ALLOW ON-SITE THE ADOPTION OF PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
Musical activity may be stopped as a precautionary measure in certain cases at the same time that irregularities are detected
The Plenary session of Calvià will debate on Thursday the modification of the municipal Ordinance for the protection of the environment against pollution by noise and vibrations, which will allow the adoption of precautionary measures in case of non-compliance with the regulations. This is another measure that is proposed to curb practices associated with drunkenness tourism, and move towards a sustainable and quality tourism model, also in the field of leisure.
Therefore, the possibility that the Local Police and municipal technicians can adopt immediate or on-site measures in certain cases such as the lack of a license for musical activity and the manipulation of the sound limiter, is proposed in the modification. In both cases, Local Police officers and municipal technicians may seal the sound equipment, even temporarily, partially or totally closing the facilities (stoppage of musical activity).
In addition, other modifications are proposed such as updating certain aspects of the Ordinance to adapt it to regional and state regulations, and simplifying procedures, introducing the statement of responsibility that replaces the license. The absence of the statement of responsibility, or the fact that it presents essential inaccuracies or falsehoods will also be reason to impose precautionary measures.
The modification of the so-called Noise Ordinance, which will be raised for initial approval on Thursday, comes after a careful analysis of the Calvià Town Hall Activities Commission, which is made up of technicians from different municipal departments (Activities, Infractions and Sanctions and Local Police). The renewal is proposed after years of validity of the municipal regulation, the experience gained and the difficulties arising from its application.
