CALVIÀ RECOVERS MORE THAN 3.000 KG OF ELECTRICAL OR HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES IN 2021
It is the result of the agreement between the public company Calvià 2000 and the Fundació Deixalles
In total, 105 appliances were recovered last year
The agreement that the public company Calvià 2000 signed with the Deixalles Foundation allowed to recover 105 electrical or household appliances last year, which means that 3.249 kg of these appliances have been able to have a new life when repaired by staff of the entity.
The process consists in that all the appliances that are taken to the Deixalleria de Calvià are reviewed to select and separate those that can be recovered for later reuse. In these cases, the Fundació Deixalles collects and transfers them to its Preparation for Reuse Centre (CPR) where they review, fix and, where appropriate, put them back on the market.
With this action, progress is made in a triple objective. On the one hand, the amount of waste generated in the municipality is reduced, increasing the life cycle of electrical or household appliances, which are replaced due to both breakdown or renewal of other higher-performance ones. On the other hand, the generation of polluting waste decreases and finally progress is made in environmentally responsible consumption.
