 Friday, 21st January 2022

CALVIÀ RECEIVES THE 2022 Q AWARD FOR ITS MANAGEMENT ON THE BEACHES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FITUR MADRID TOURIST FAIR

The mayor emphasises that it is the recognition of all the work that is being done for the quality of the municipality's coastline

Speech by the mayor of Calvià, on the 2022 Q Night

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, received last night from the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the president of the ICTE, Miguel Mirones, the 2022 Q Prize, awarded by the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute (ICTE), in a ceremony that took place at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid, within the framework of the FITUR Tourism Fair. The mayor was accompanied by the general director of Tourism and Coastline, Xavier Pascuet.

Alfonso Rodríguez Badal pointed out in his speech that «Quality is responding to the expectation of the experience that tourists have dreamed of, and it is also caring and managing both our territory and industry with care, criteria and with a glance towards tourists, residents and the environment. ». The mayor added that “Calvià has been working for years to achieve that quality that is recognised today throughout its coastline, our jewel in the crown. Fifteen beaches that enjoy all the services, accessibility, safety and environmental protection that both, territory and residents and tourists deserve. Taking care of them, enjoying them and offering them all the quality standards that the audit processes demand, is betting on them and, of course, also betting on their future.”

The Q 2022 Award granted to Calvià recognises its commitment to the quality of its beaches, being the municipality with the largest number of certified beaches throughout Spain.

Calvià currently has 15 quality Q flags on the beaches of Buganvilla, Illetes balneario, Cala Contesa, Portals, s'Oratori, es Carregador (Palmanova), Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, ses Penyes Roges (El Toro), Santa Ponça, Romana (Peguera), Torà (Peguera) and Palmira (Peguera).

Along with Calvià Town Hall, the Official Credit Institute (ICO), the Región de Murcia and the 'RH Hoteles' hotel chain were also awarded.
