Monday 23rd May 2022

THE GOVERNMENT IMPROVES THE BUS CONNECTION OF THE CALVIÀ AREA WITH PALMA

Magaluf and Palmanova users have a bus every 20 minutes, thanks to a new time extension carried out by the Mallorca Transport Consortium, which comes into force today

News from the Government of the Balearic Islands

As from this Monday, a new time extension of the interurban bus lines in the western area comes into force, thus improving the municipality of Calvià's connectivity with Palma. In this way, residents and workers in the area can enjoy a greater offer to get around with public transport within the TIB network, which is managed by the Regional Ministry of Mobility and Housing through the Mallorca Transport Consortium.

The most significant improvement is 31% increase in the service between Magaluf and Palma covered by lines 104 and 105. Thus, from Monday to Sunday there will be a bus with a 20-minute frequency.

Line 104 also extends the timetable at the end of the day with one last departure, from Magaluf at 12.30 a.m. and from Palma at 12.10 a.m.. On this line, all buses are 18 m, high-capacity vehicles to meet the demand of the area.

On the other hand, lines 101 of Port d'Andratx and 102 of Peguera recover the usual route they had before the Son Vic works started. In addition, the Peguera line increases the service by 29% with a bus every 25/30 minutes from Monday to Saturday, thus extending the last departures of the day until later.

103 Santa Ponça – Palma line users now also have a bus every 25 minutes from Monday to Saturday, since the service is increased by five more daily departures in each direction. Eight more services are added on Sundays.

For its part, line 108, which connects Son Caliu, Portals Nous, Bendinat and Cas Català with Palma, increases the service on Sundays with three more departures and two return trips and adds a final departure to end the service later than 11 p.m.

On the other hand, an increase in service is also planned on lines 122 Puerto de Andratx-Santa Ponça and 123 Santa Ponça-Cas Català at the beginning of June.

For more information on lines, schedules and fees, you can check the website tib.org

With Intermodal Card or bank card

Mallorca residents can travel with the Intermodal Card, the cash card that works with a points system that makes the ticket price cheaper on each trip. The Intermodal Card credit can be topped up online on the TIB website, it can also be done inside the buses and through the ticket machines of the train and metro stations.

For residents who do not have an Intermodal Card and for visitors who arrive in Mallorca, they have the option of traveling with a bank card. Whether it is a debit or credit card, it allows you to travel throughout the TIB network (bus, train and metro) without having to buy any previous ticket and it is cheaper than buying a single ticket from the driver. It offers the possibility of transferring twice during the same trip. In addition, using the bank card, significant discounts are applied to groups of up to 5 people.
