Calvią Children and Adolescents Council

Friday 16th December 2022

Constitution of the Calvià Children and Adolescents Council

Calvià Town Hall has set up the Calvià Children and Adolescents Council, made up of 55 children and adolescents from Calvià with ages ranging from 11 to 14 years old.

The mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Social Development, Children and the Elderly, M. Carmen Rojano, presented the accrediting diplomas this afternoon.

The child participation body is made up of counsellors who have been elected by the rest of the students in their classroom. This participatory body has a total of 32 members. The adolescent participation body has a total of 23 members.

This year the Council will participate in the 1st Children's Councils Meeting of the Balearic Islands, which will be held in Santa Eulàlia des Riu in January 2023.

Both bodies make up the Calvià Council for Children and Adolescents, which will work together with two clear objectives:

Disseminate their rights amongst the professionals of the Town Hall so that they consider the Children and Adolescents Council as an advisory body regarding children issues (understood from 0 to 18 years old).
Amongst the citizens, spreading their work.
Make proposals for actions to improve the municipality regarding their rights and forward them to the Calvià Children and Adolescents Board so that they can assess and implement them as far as possible.

A clown performance carried out by the Sonrisa Médica clowns also took place in the event.
