Calvią extends the Erasmus+ exchange programme

Tuesday, 24th January 2023

A TOTAL OF 38 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM CALVIÀ WILL PARTICIPATE IN 2023 IN THREE ERASMUS+ YOUTH EXCHANGE PROJECTS

The first one will take place in February in Finland, the second one in July in France and the third one in December in Calvià

The Youth Service of the Calvià Town Hall increases its European projects for this year 2023. A total of 38 young people between the ages of 13 and 25 will be able to enjoy the advantages that the Erasmus+ program offers. Three youth exchange projects are planned for 2023.

The first one will take place between 25th February and 5th March in the town of Hollola (Finland), where for nine days there will be a sample of Finnish and Spanish customs and culture with the aim of making a 'collage' of differences and similarities between the youth of both countries. The project will take place in a natural winter environment typical of the Nordic countries.

The second youth exchange will take place in Besançon, a town located at the foot of the French Alps, near the border with Switzerland. This project will take place between 18th and 28th July, and the main feature of this exchange will be multiculturalism, since participants from four different countries will meet: France, Italy, Bulgaria and Spain. Of the total of fifty young people who will take part in the activity, twenty will be from the municipality of Calvià. In this project each participant will teach a skill or competence to the rest of the young people.

The third exchange continues the previous one since it will include the same participants, but this time the meeting will take place in the municipality of Calvià, where the Calvià youth will be responsible for welcoming young people from the rest of Europe. It will take place from 1st to 10th December, the theme being the same as in the second exchange, since it is a continuity.

The Deputy Mayor for Youth and Citizen Participation, Marga Plomer, explained that "I consider it very important that the youth of our municipality can enjoy all possible opportunities to study and travel to other countries, and thus be able to share experiences with people who have another reality, another culture, another way of seeing things, because richness in diversity is what makes us grow as a society".

Plomer also stated that "this year we are committed to organizing three Erasmus+ programmes due to the high demand and participation of our youth in this programme, which gives meaning to words such as diversity, inclusion, cooperation and solidarity. In order to build an informed, supportive society, that recognizes diversity, and that respects the rights and freedoms of citizens, and to build a free society, a better society, we believe that these programmes are necessary. I hope that they are experiences full of learning and new friendships, and that they become a memory for life.

The councillor has also encouraged "all the young people of the municipality to come to Es Generador for information and to sign up."
