The tournament will be held at the new Magalluf running track during the second weekend in July

The new running track in Magaluf, whose construction should be completed by the beginning of 2009, has been chosen by the Spanish Athletics Federation to host the next Spanish Junior Open Air Championships. The competition, in which the countrys most promising athletes will compete (including the Calvian David Bustos), will be held on 11th and 12th July.

The Federation, presided by José María Odriozola, who has already shown interest in watching the competition "in situ", has advised the Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, in writing about the nomination for the National Junior, a unanimous decision made at the last Directors meeting on 27th July.

The celebration of this trial will mark the official opening of the new Magaluf sports complex, which is being built opposite the existing sports centre, and consists of an athletics track with covered stand in the main area, a natural grass football pitch, an indoor training area, an outdoor cross-training circuit and a gymnasium. The complex meets all necessary requirements with maximum classification (Class A) for approval by the Spanish Federation and "IAAF" for the hosting of competitions, both national and international.
