Citizen Bonanova,
Directed by Enrique Fernández and A. Pérez de Mendiola is a documentary which narrates the life of the Majorcan, Fortunio Bonanova, the Spaniard who more films has made in Hollywood.
Fortunio was a singer who went to the United States with the company Amadeo Vives in the time of silent films. His first great performance was Citizen Kane, where he played the part of the lover of Kane´s music teacher, from then on he became one of the best supporting actors under the direction of Orson Wells, Billy Wilder, John Ford, Otto Preminger or Robert Aldrich, amongst others.
In the documentary, they talk about the actor, characters such as the director Jess Franco, who explains that he belonged to Wells group of friends.
The Fortunio Bonanova´s filmography consists of more than 80 films from which outstand Citizen Kane (Orson Welles), Double indemnity and Three graves (both from Billy Wilder), The Fugitive (John Ford). Bonanova returned to Spain in 1962 where he filmed La muerte silba un blues, under the direction of Jess Franco and once finished he returned to California, where he died.
