Mayor Carlos Delgado and the Health Minister inaugurated the centre which will give health care to the more than 1.300 residents.

 

The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, and the Balearic Government's Health Minister, Vicenç Thomàs, inaugurated, this morning, the new Basic Medical Centre in the Es Galatzó housing estate.

This new service is the last of the various action plans which the Calvià Town Hall has carried out in Galatzó within their programme "Calvià al día" (Calvià today), a plan to improve and increase the infrastructure of the municipality with regard to such important matters as Health, Senior Citizens, Sport, Education, Tourism, Safety, Cleaning etc.

The new Basic Medical Centre, of 454 sq. mts., is built on a plot of land conceded by Calvià Town Hall. There are three different consultations (Family Medicine, Infirmary and General Medicine) and a First Aid treatment room. The autonomous executive's inversion in this Basic Medical Centre amounts to a total of, approximately, one million euros, between labour and equipment.

There are three members of staff : a doctor, a nurse and a clerical assistant, who will provide health care for the population of 1.329 residents. The opening hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 08.00h. to 15.00h. Tuesday's consultation will be in the afternoon at the Santa Ponsa Health Centre.
