With a total cost of 166.173 euros, the three courts are surfaced with "tennis quick"
The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, accompanied by the First Deputy Mayor & Councillor of Costa d'en Blanes, Teresa Martorell and the Deputy Mayor for Sport, Manolo Grille, inaugurated, on Saturday, 25th April, the three new paddle courts which have been built in Costa d'en Blanes.
With these new sports installations a request from the residents of the area has been fulfilled, and, at the same time, we move one step further forward in the municipal programme "Calvià al día" (modern day Calvià), a comprehensive plan for improvement, modernisation and new construction of municipal infrastructures. The new courts comply with the regulation surface of 20 x 10 and are covered with the asphaltic surface "tennis quick." The courts, which cost 166.173 euros, are enclosed with stone walls with wire mesh and have lighting.
The paddle courts are added to the many improvements carried out in the area, like the expansion of the social hall and conversion of the civic zone ; the construction of a sound barrier ; the installation of a "pipicán" (dogs' toilet area) in calle Miguel Cervantes ; the cleaning up of the green belt areas of Plaza Dolores Nouvillas, San Rafael and San Eduardo ; the fitting out of the flower beds at the entrance to the estate and the installation of traffic lights for speed control in calle Dolores Nouvilla, among others.
