The Mayor of Calvià, hoisted this award and the "Q" for Tourist Quality on Palma Nova beach. Oratorio, Es Carregador, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Santa Ponça, La Romana, Torà and Palmira also have the blue flag
The beaches from Oratorio, Es Carregador, Palmanova, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Santa Ponça, La Romana, Torà and Palmira have since yesterday, the Blue Flag, sign for quality which , the Foundation for the Environment Education (FEE), yearly awards both, the quality of the water and the quality of beach services.
With these nine prizes, Calvià is the municipality in the Balearic Islands with more Blue Flags obtained and the only one with three Q, (for Tourist Quality) beaches: Palmanova, Santa Ponça and Palmira, as a clear recognition for their service offers.
With regard to last year, Calvià has obtained the Blue Flag on the beaches of Cala Vinyes and Torà (both obtained in 2008 but wasn´t achieved last year), but not on the Son Maties beach.
The government team, which the Mayor, Carlos Delgado, directs, has shown their satisfaction for the number of flags obtained, as this award is for the To wn Hall's effort in making its beaches internationally acknowledged and for achieving the criterias for accessibility , health, cleanliness and safety, as well as having the appropriate information and environmental management.
It is to be reminded that the Calvian coast has also four beaches: Son Maties, Palmanova, El Toro and Santa Ponça, totally adapted.
During previous weeks, infrastructure maintenance, cleaning and embellishment works have been done on beaches also green and gardened areas.
