The Town Hall recovers one of the tourist routes and with great natural interest, used in the past by neighbours and tourists with an excellent grade of acceptance

Inaugurated the new Peguera-Es Capdellà walk path.

The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, together with his government team, inaugurated the new natural route, Peguera-Es Capdellà, last Saturday. A 4,1 km long and 1,50 metres wide walk path; due to this new walk path, it has been able to recover a tourist route with a high natural interest which, since many years ago, was used with a great grade of acceptance by the neighbours.

It is the Town Hall's wish, to promote tourist walk paths which develop the practice of a sport activity with a cultural, natural, patrimonial or historical added value and contribute to the all year round tourism. Therefore, together with the inaugurated route it is to be mentioned the "Passeig Calvià" new eight kilometres extension, carried out during the last legislature; the four new routes, with more than 35 km, which pass through the beautiful Galatzó estate or the creation of the disembark routes at the end of last year, which offer to relive places where the king James I passed by more than 700 years ago.

The new Natura route Peguera-Es Capdellà, was programmed, at the beginning , to be carried out by el Consell de Mallorca but ended being finished by the Calvià Town Hall The project , which had been awarded to the company Vopsa, started in December last year and have made a total of 492.970,94 euros investment.

Within the project, an agreement was settled with the owners to occupy 22.765 square metres, the existing walls have been conserved in their original form and new adjustments have been done to all affected estates. As well as, in certain parts, the road security has improved with security barriers to avoid any inconvenience to pedestrians on any incoming traffic. Above all, both, a path above the Vall Verda torrent and a conection with the urban path in Peguera, have been built.

It is to be reminded that this route was a historical claim from both, neighbours from the area of Capdellà and Peguera and from the Peguera and Cala Fornells Hotelier Association, who requested this new walk path a long time ago in order to offer a new product to contribute to the all year round tourism.
