During 2009 a total of 67 files were proceeded from which an 85% have been completed
The Citizen and Tourist Defender in Calvià, Francisca Mascaró, presented in the Town Hall, in the last Thursday´s plenary, the annual actions report which within the exercise of her duties, she developed during 2009. Francisca Mascaró also wanted to thank the support received by the different groups with municipal representation as well as all areas, departments and municipal companies.
According to the statistical figures included in the report, in 2009, the Citizen Defender proceeded a total of 85 files from which 67 were accepted. Actually, an 85% of these 67 files are completed whereas the rest continue within its actual process.
The main requests made by neighbours and citizens are framed within the “Advice and mediation” group, which means the 20% of the total; followed by the "Quality of life defence"; "Tourist Help" and "Legal Services".
By locations, the residents in Santa Ponça have been the ones who have presented more complaints, with a 30% of the total, followed by the residents in Palma Nova with a 15,30%. Although this 30% seems to be a high porcentage, it is to be mentioned that, a 21% of the total population in the municipality of Calvià, live in Santa Ponça. By nationalities, the Spanish complaints, with a 75,30% have the highest rate, followed by the English, representing an 11,77% and the German with an 8,24%, superior rates, compared with the rest of nationalities.
By age, it is to be mentioned that minors have not presented any complaint to the Defender whereas the elderly (more than 60 years old) followed by the age range between 41 and 60 years old are the ones who have presented more complaints. Finally, it is to be highlighted that there is no important difference between both sexes when they present their complaints to the Office. January was the month with more complaints presented, with the 18,83% of the total, followed by the month of May, with the 17,65%.
