The Town Hall will carry out, important investments in sports facilities, public safety, roads and public works, maintenance, transport, traffic and road safety, in 2011.
The Calvià Town Hall´s plenary, approved, with the PP´s favourable votes, the municipal budget for 2011, last Thursday. A budget, elaborated with the only aim of achieving a greater welfare for the residents and their economic and social development within the municipal field and classified in a context of crisis and economic deceleration through which we are going through.
With these premises, the government team directed by Carlos Delgado approved a 99.761.573, 81 euros municipal budget, 6,85% less than in 2010. This reduction obeys, mainly, to a noticeable income decrease due to the freezing of fees and public prices and the income decrease arising from indirect taxes, due to the actual crisis reflected in a minor property activity or to the fact that no economic contribution has been able to be included neither from the Balearic Government nor from the Insular Board, in order to carry out investments. For this reason, the Town Hall has had to budget in zero euros the section of capital transfers. Furthermore, it is to be mentioned the breathlessness that the Central Government is submitting to the municipalities, not allowing a new debt for 2011.
The reduction of the municipal income reflects, also, in the investment forecast which has settled in 2,1 million euros, a 44,67% less than in the previous year. Despite the previously used arguments, the Calvià Town Hall has made a remarkable effort to adequate its investment projects to its financial resources and has established as main goals, the tourist stationality´s break down; the modernization and the embellishment of the tourist areas and the maintenance of high quality services. Therefore, important investments in sports facilities have been planned for the forthcoming year; Public Safety; Maintenance; Transport, Traffic and Road Safety; Roads and Public Works as well as for the ARI Galatzó (Comprehensive Restoration Area).
The freezing of all the fees rates and public prices (IBI (Property Tax), construction works and vehicles tax, sports centers fees, etc.) except the one applied by the Mallorca Insular Board for the treatment of residues, mean for the income forecast a 24,85% less than last year whereas the income of indirect tax also decreases in a 12,49%.
On his side, and due to the extraordinary measures adopted by the municipal government team to reduce the public deficit, the budget´s common expense, decreases as a whole, in a 3,70% with regards to 2010. Therefore, the staff´s expense section, reduces to a 3,22% caused by the reduction of the public worker´s salary as well as its freezing for 2011.
In the section of common goods and services, a budget with a 25% reduction is also presented, due to, in between other reasons, the publicity´s expense decrease and to the adjustment which, from all the areas, has been carried out, because of the economic situation in which we are immersed.
Finally, it is to be recalled, that the government team also approved the consolidated budget (which embraces the Town Hall and the municipal companies and the autonomous organizations, these are, IMEB, IFOC, Llar de Calvià S.A. and Calvià 2000 S.A.) which adds up to 107.122.083,16 euros, and means a 13,22% reduction with regards to 2010.
