The Mayor inaugurated this new natural itinerary which is included in the important tourist hiking routes network which the municipality counts with

New walk path between Calvià and es Capdellà.

More than 300 people attended the inauguration of the new pedestrian path and cycle track which links both, the village of Calvià and es Capdellà, covering by foot or bicycle, the 1,7 kilometre route and enjoying of its incomparable natural environment, last Saturday.

This new natural itinerary, which counts with the width of two metres and a 1,17% medium level change, parallel to the main road, was inaugurated by the Mayor Carlos Delgado who also, together with his government team, covered mentioned route.

The works, which have meant an investment of 543.189 euros and which have been totally financed by the Calvià Town Hall, started last 15th September and have been carried out by the company Vías y Obras Públicas S.A. (Vopsa). With its implementation, not only the neighbours historical claim has come true but the Town Hall has given a step forward within its goal of promoting tourist routes which develop the practice of a sport activity with an added cultural, patrimonial or historical value.

As it will be recalled, the Town Hall decided, half year ago, due to the carelessness shown by the Consell de Mallorca, to carry out another natura intinerary, which as in this occasion, had also been claimed numerous times by both, the neighbours and the hoteliers from the area. We are talking about the natura itinerary which links Peguera with es Capdellà which, with the one inaugurated last Saturday, make a tourist natural network which, with no doubt, will contribute to the all year round tourism.

Furthermore, and within this same action line, the Town Hall has carried out other important works with the aim of offering new products with which will alleviate the tourist seasonal standstill, such as the Passeig Calvià extension with new eight kilimetres, carried out during the last legislature or the four new itineraries, with more than 35 kilometres, which pass through the incomparable Galatzó public estate. On the other hand, and within this same goal, it is to be also highlighted, the creation of the disembark routes, at the end of 2009, which offer the walker, to relive the places where the King James I passed by, more than 700 years ago.

Finally, it is to be recalled that, with the new walk path for pedestrians and cyclists between Calvià and es Capdellà, the security conditions, for both, have remarkably improved, as up to now, if they wanted to do this route, they had to do it, by the verge of the road.
