Both, the Calvià neighbours and political representatives support the Balearic Multiple Sclerosis Association (ABDEM)

Swimming for the Multiple Sclerosis, in Calvià.

Both Deputy Mayors of Calvià Town Hall, Cristina de León for Social Welfare and Enrique Ortega for Sports, together with the councillor for the area of Magalluf, Antonio Alarcón, wanted to show their support to the Balearic Multiple Sclerosis Association (ABDEM). Therefore, they actively participated in the “mójate por la esclerosis múltiple(swim for the multiple sclerosis) and for this purpose, this year, the Calvià Town Hall, has freely provided the Municipal Sports Centre´s swimming-pool facilities.

During the course of yesterday morning, numerous neighbours from the municipality attended this municipal swimming-pool with the aim of showing their solidarity to both, the sufferers and their families, who some, were present during this celebration which has already become a classical Calvià and Majorca Summer scene.

This activity is organised by the “Asociación Balear de Esclerosis Múltiple” (ABDEM) (Balearic Multiple Sclerosis Association) and expects to make the society aware of the serious problems that both, the sclerosis sufferers and their families live with. In fact, this degenerative disease, which more than 50.000 people in the whole of Spain suffer from, has still no cure. Therefore, this entity is committed with the search of the solidarity of both, the society and the civil services in order to let them know of the important necessities that daily, the sufferers and their closest environment have to confront with.
