The Calvià Town Hall joins this celebration with the start of the Calvià´s V Theater School Exhibition, which will be inaugurated by the Calvià´s Dance School pupils.
The International Dance Day, which is celebrated on April 29 every year, was introduced in 1982 by the UNESCO´s International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute with the aim to attract the attention about the art of dance.
It was established thanks to the Russian Professor Piepor Gusev from Leningrand, who wanted to pay tribute to the great innovator of classic ballet, the French choreographer Jean Georges Noverre (1727-1810). The 29th April, commemorates the birthday of Noverre, who was the greatest choreographer of his era, creator of modern ballet.
The International Dance Day is a good excuse to claim this genre and also to celebrate this artistic expression and its universality.
The Calvià Town Hall joins this celebration with the start of the Calvià´s V Theater School Exhibition, which will be inaugurated with a commemorative event for the International Dance Day by the Calvià´s Dance School pupils.
The shool pupils, will demonstrate through different styles, that they are becoming dance lovers, learning with discipline and effort to create art with their movements and expression.
Estudio de Danza Mª Antonia Mas and, for the first time, Christian Toberentz, with a tap dance solo, will collaborate in this activity.
But the promotion of Dance is not only achieved by organizing performances for the International Day of this Art. Throughout the year, all the efforts about this genre we dedicate them to the Dance and Performing School of Calvià, which since its creation has meant a cultural enrichment for the municipality of Calvià, thus guaranteeing a higher quality teaching within these disciplines.
The school´s main objective is to educate the children and teenagers in the knowledge and the self-control of their body and boost the development of the creative and artistic skills within their learning.
The academic year is carried out in Es Generador, where there is also an auditorium to do activities, dance shows and performances.
