The Town Hall, main sponsor of these tournaments, continues with its commitment to sport as a deseasonalising element. The tournaments will allow 2.400 hotel stays.
Calvià continues with its commitment to sport as a deseasonalising element and it shows holding four tournaments of the International Tennis Federation -ITF- this forthcoming month of February, which are part of the professional calendar and with which it is expected 2.400 hotel stays in the municipality.
The two first tournaments, named ITF MENS MALLORCA I and ITF MENS MALLORCA II, will be held at the Peguera TENIS CENTER Club, from 3rd to 9th and from 10th to 16th February successively.
In these tournaments is where the tennis players start their first steps to their professional carrier who wish to obtain the ATP and WTA classifications, thus allowing them to have access to the previous competitions of the great tournaments.
The women's competition will start following the men's competition, with the ITF WOMENS MALLORCA I and ITF WOMENS MALLORCA II tournaments. In this case it will be held from 17th to 22nd February and from 24th February to 1st March successively at the TENNIS ACADEMY GUILLERMO VILAS in Palma Nova.
The chart of individuals will be composed of 32 players from which 8 will come out from the previous phase and another 4 players will do so through invitations (Wild Cards). The previous phase will be played the weekend before the start of the final chart and 64 players will dispute it. Also a chart of 16 couples will be played in the Doubles modality.
The Deputy Mayor for Sports, Enrique Ortega, has highlighted the work carried out by the Goverment Team who has made possible to hold this type of tournaments in the municipality, placing Calvià, with no doubt, in the map of high level sport events.
