The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, accompanied by the councillors of the area, Eugenia Frau and Olga Plaza, the representatives of the Neighbourhood Association and the Hotel Association of Santa Ponça, has inaugurated the area's weekly market, which will take place every Saturday and which will hold more than 160 stands.
The stands have been selected bearing in mind their products on sale, highlighting those traditional, artisan and ecological products; in conclusion, those products and items configuring a differentiated and a quality offer. Also, the Town Hall has taken into consideration the products on sale in order to avoid any possible direct competition with the businesses already existing in each area.
The market, located in Riu Sil St. (next to the church of Santa Ponça), arises from the idea of dinamizing the economic activity of the municipality and boost the commercialisation of regional products apart from being a tourist promotion element. It is also a historical request of the neighbours.
