The Calvià Town Hall supports, for the second consecutive year, the programme of grants for the practice training of students in university and in formative courses, BECAlvià, which will be developed during the months of July and August.
BECAlvià expects to achieve two main objectives such as provide labour experience to the young people of the municipality facilitating their access to the labour world once they have finished their studies, and also that the “BECAlvia businesses” have the chance to know our youth.
The consistory will put at disposal of this programme 27.119,40 euros, as it considers a priority to offer the students the resources addressed to promote the contact with the work environment.
The relationship of the young students with the collaborating businesses joining the BECAlvià programme will be as 'grant holder'. From the total cost of the grant, the businesses will take charge of half of the expenses and the other half will be taken over by the Town Hall. The total amount stipulated is 318,20€ monthly.
The grants will start on 1st July until 31st August and the timetable will be established depending on the necessities of the collaborating entity reaching the amount of 80 hours monthly.
The requirements of the applicants are to be either graduate, postgraduate, master´s degree or doctorate university students having at least a 50% of the credits completed and in the formative courses case, be registered in the second year of the corresponding formative course.
The businesses commit themselves to appoint a tutor in order to coordinate and carry out the follow-up of the activities to be carried out by the grant holder during the two months of training. Numerous businesses of the municipality have joined BECAlvia, providing therefore an opportunity to the young students of the municipality of applying the knowledge acquired.
In the Summer 2013 announcement, a total of 31 students with a varied education profile: university students of tourism, law, biology, teaching, social education, pharmacy, school of physical activity and sports sciences, formative courses of physical and sport activities, management and finances, cooking and gastronomy, etc benefitted from the grants carrying out their practice training in the collaborating businesses.
