It is framed within a pioneer project nationwide called Souvenir LAB and which searches to renovate the businesses of the sector in order to make them more attractive, competitive and at the same time more profitable.

The presentation event of the good-practice guides for the souvenir terraces of the municipality, framed within the pilot project Souvenir LAB, which is pioneer and innovator nationwide, has taken place this morning at the Sala Palmanova.

Through said project, Calvià has become, during these last months, a great testing laboratory to try and transform the municipality's business terraces in order to make them more attractive, more competitive and therefore more profitable.

Said project is an intitiative promoted by the IDI, the Calvià Town Hall and the school of design EDIB, which arised from the request made by one of the Calvià souvenirs which attended the courses of shop windows and visual merchandising, both included in the programme "Calvià is shopping!! an experience" given by the IDI in Santa Ponça at the end of 2013.

The guide presented today, gathers practical advice regarding the presentation and distribution of the products and the sale stands in the business terraces, the typology of the most appropiate furniture, as well as the most appropiate aesthetic for each type of product and the communication elements at the sale points. Said guide is a result of the contributions made by a multidisciplinary team composed by:

  • Technical experts of the IDI (Business Innovation Institute of the Balearic Islands/ Institut d'Innovació Empresarial de les Illes Balears) assigned to the Directorate General of Commerce and Business of the Balearic Islands.

  • Municipal technical experts of different areas such as: ifoc, urban planning, tourism and commerce.

  • Teachers and pupils of the School of Design EDIB.

  • Calvià souvenir owners.

  • Representatives of the Hotel Associations.

  • Professionals of PATECO, association belonging to the Consejo de Cámaras Oficiales de Comercio, Industria y Navegación de la Comunitat Valenciana (Board of Official Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of the Valencian Community) and expert in the elaboration of territorial plans of Commerce.

  • Design and visual merchandising professionals: Cartoon jocs and E2G (Commercial Interior Design)

A total of 96 souvenirs have enrolled in this event, to whom have presented a guide counting therefore with a digital version of free access through the Town Hall's web page http://www.calvia.com/, the ifoc http://www.ifoc.es/ and the IDI http://www.idi.es/.

At the end of the event, the attendee have been able to visit 3 souvenirs of the municipality, transformed by the pupils of the school of design EDIB, as well as an ephemeral sculpture made by themselves and which is located at the Palmanova promenade.
