This season, the Police staff will count with 43 seasonal police officers, which means almost a 10% increase with regards to last year.
The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Security, Manuel Grille, the Deputy Mayor for Coast Lines and Beaches, Daniel Perpiñá and the Chief of the Local Police of Calvià, José Antonio Navarro, have presented today, at the Palmanova beach and in front of the business associations of the municipality, the wide Summer Police Security Operation Plan which, especially, start up all the municipal departments, in particular, those related to security, tourism, civil protection, cleanliness and coast lines.
This Summer season, the Local Police will increase its staff almost a 10% with regards to last year. A total of 43 police officers will cover the afternoon/evening and the late night shift. Their functions and priorities are focused, mainly, on the Magaluf's late night reinforcement services (pedestrian patrols in Punta Ballena).
Also, the Local Police, Civil Protection and Calvià 2000 have exhibited, at said beach, part of the human and technical resources with which they are reinforced during the Summer season with the aim of offering a quality service to both, tourists and residents of the municipality.
During the presentation, the Mayor, Manuel Onieva, stated: “year after year, since the start of the legislature, we have committed, firmly, with those subjects related to quality, as we are aware that the success or the failure of the economic policy of a tourist municipality such as ours, depends on the image of excellence that we are capable of offering to both, residents and tourists”. Also, with regards to the increase of police officers this season, the Mayor highlighted that “the security continues being one of our priorities within the plan of duties of this Government Team".
