Each launcher will be composed of a team of 20 under 35-year-old young unemployed people, who, guided by a coordinator, will reinforce their competencies to access to the labour market.

Both, the Calvià Town Hall and the Fundación Santa María la Real have signed a collaboration agreement which will allow the start up of two Employment and Solidary Entrepreneurship Launchers in our municipality. Each launcher will be composed of a team of 20 under 35-year-old young unemployed people, who, guided by a coordinator, will reinforce their competencies to access to the labour market and/or develop their own entrepreneurial projects.

The first launcher will start functioning in November, while the second one will do the same in Spring 2015. All those people interested in participating in the programme can request information and present application forms as from 30th September at info@lanzaderasdeempleo.es and at info@ifoc.es, at the IFOC's offices (2 Diego Salvà Lezaún St. Palmanova 07181 Calvià) and at the telephone number 971 134613.

The collaboration agreement reached amongst the Calvià Town Hall and the Fundación Santa María la Real (the entity promoter of the programme Employment and Solidary Entrepreneurship Launchers) establishes that, through the collaboration and the finance of Fundación Telefónica, two launchers will start in the city. Each one will be composed of a team of 20 under 35-year-old young unemployed people, who, guided by a coordinator, will reinforce competencies and abilities within their active search of employment to have access to the labour market.

The first launcher will start functioning on 3rd November having a duration of five months. When this one finishes in Spring 2015, the second one will start functioning, with another new team of 20 unemployed young people, and with similar programming and functioning.

Their members will be guided and oriented by a coordinator or coach, who will help them to establish as a cohesive group and work as a team, to reinforce their competencies, generate collective knowledge and collaborate in the achievement of a common objective: obtain employment, either as a self-employed or as an employee.

They will meet three times in the week and they will participate in individual and group coaching sessions, they will work the emotional intelligence, the communication and the creativity; they will learn new techniques for the elaboration and presentation of curriculum vitae, they will analyse how to confront with job interviews, they will develop employability maps and they will learn how to work the personalmark, to differenciate and adopt a better position in the labour market. They will also deal with the search of business opportunities and the steps to follow for the creation of businesses.

What is the ESEL Programme?

The Employment and Solidary Entrepreneurship Launchers (ESEL) start as a new employment encouragement tool changing the standpoint of the labour insertion policies developed up to now. Its promoter, the architect and draughtsman José María Pérez "Peridis", also president of the Fundación Santa María la Real, conceives them as a programme of social innovation with the unemployed people, who suggests a new philosophy towards the unemployment. Traditionally, an unemployed person had a passive behaviour. The Employment Launchers search a proactive and more optimistic standpoint; in order that the unemployed abandons the lack of interest or the loss of hope, discovering all the competencies to be useful, help the others and find a job.

A Lanzadera (launcher) is a team of unemployed people with a dynamic, committed and solidary spirit who voluntarily joins this intitiative and who, coordinated by a coach, reinforce their competencies, share their knowledge, generate collective knowledge and collaborate in the achievement of a common objective: obtain employment, either as a self-employed or as an employee.

How many Lanzaderas (launchers) are there?

The first Employment Launcher started functioning in 2013 in Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) and in four municipalities of Cantabria (Torrelavega, Castro Urdiales, Astillero and Santander). The good results obtained in terms of labour insertion, have facilitated the spreading of this model.

Currently, there are 17 employment launchers functioning in Castilla y León, Cantabria, Madrid, Cataluña, La Rioja and the Comunidad Valenciana. For the forthcoming month of October it is expected that 8 employment launchers will start functioning in Andalucía and another one in Arganda del Rey (Madrid). The ones in Segovia, Lleida, Barcelona, Cáceres, Murcia and Calvià will start in November.
