The exhibition arrives to Calvià from the hand of the scientific dissemination project Ciudad Ciencia, started up by the CSIC and the Obra social “la Caixa”.
Looking at the sky with the appropiate instrumentation can provide us, amongst other details, spectacular images. An example of this is 'El universo para que lo descubras', (The Universe for you to discover), a photographic exhibiton that aims to approach the astronomy to the general public through images obtained with satellites and telescopes located in different countries. The exhibition will take place in Calvià from today until 24th October.
'El universo para que lo descubras' (The Universe for you to discover) makes a tour through four great groups: solar system, stars and nebulae, galaxies and universe. In all of them, the works are accompanied by texts which explain what is observed from the scientific point of view, together with pieces of poems or texts of authors of the world literature such as Lorca, Neruda or Bécquer.
The exhibition can be freely visited at the IES Calvià (Avd. Son Pillo, 1. Santa Ponça-Calvià) from Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (on Wednesdays and Fridays can also be visited from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.).
This activity is framed within Ciudad Ciencia, a scientific dissemination project which The Superior Board for the Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Obra Social "la Caixa" have started up together with municipalities such as Calvià with the aim of giving the residents of areas located far away from the big cities, first-hand information of the current science and technology.
The web http://www.ciudadciencia.es/ offers workshops and 'online' contents, as well as detailed information of the activities programmed in Calvià.
Ciudad Ciencia was launched in March 2012 and currently counts with almost thirty participating locations throughout Spain, three of them in the Balearic Islands: Sant Josep, Calvià and Mahón.
