Four members of the Local Police of Calvià participate in the World Police and Fire Games which take place in the USA.

World Police and Fire Games.

Both competitions, the World Police and the Fire Games take place every two years and where thanks to sport, exists an exchange of experiences amongst police officers and firemen of the whole world in a great environment of camaraderie amongst all the participants, at the same time that keeps them fit.

This year, the city of Fairfax in Virginia, United States, has been the place chosen by the organization where four members of the Local Police of Calvià will participate in the following trials: Stair Race, Open Water Swimming, 50, 100, 200 and 800 metre-race freestyle swimming and 1.500, 800, 5.000 and 10.000 metre-race athletics track running, Cross Country and Push Pull. The representatives are: Joana Perelló, Olivia Torrico, Tolo Horrach and Ana Reynés.

 

12.000 athletes of 70 countries participate in these Police and Firemen games which started on 26th June finishing on 5th July.

 

This is the third edition in which members of the Local Police of Calvià take part of these games. They participated for the first time in 2003 in Barcelona where 2 representatives competed in the Triathlon, Cross Country and Half Marathon races.

 

Their second appareance was in Belfast where three participating members of the Local Police obtained the first place in the Star Race and the women's Cross Country. They also obtained a silver medal in the men's 10.000 metre-race, and two bronze medals in the 500 metre-race and men's Cross Country.
