Alfonso Rodríguez Badal wanted to have first-hand information of the situation and the necessities of the centres.
The Deputy Mayor for Calvià met this morning with the directors of the Primary Education Centres of the municipality to have first-hand information of their necessities and offer them the collaboration of the Town Hall within the scope of its competencies.
Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, who has been accompanied by the Deputy Mayor delegate for the Social Cohesion, responsible for the areas of Education and Culture, Nati Francés, wanted this meeting to be one of the first as a first town councillor within the frame of commitment which he acquired in his investiture, and which is one of the highlighted points of the government's agreement.
The urgent maintenance necessities that the Primary Education Schools of Calvià have -which is a municipal competency- were reviewed during the course of the meeting, and from the Town Hall it has taken on the commitment to support the CEIP petitions requested to the Regional Government with regards to infrastructure problems as well as the lack of teachers for the 2015-2016 academic year.
The Mayor, on his behalf, has passed on to the directors of the centres the government team's willingness to improve and provide content and capacity of agreement to the Municipal School Council.
He also informed them of the “Calvià educational city” initiative which is being designed and which expects to launch a project for the comprehensive education of the children and youth also in their leisure time through a network from the different administrative fields, social services, educators, neighbourhood and sports entities, and the schools.
