Provides the citizens of the municipality to pay their tax bill until 14th August.

Calvià council lengthens the IBI payment.

The Calvià Town Hall has decided to extend the payment of the Property Tax in order that the citizens can pay it without surcharge until 14th August.

This decision has been taken for two reasons:

- provide more margin to those citizens working in the hotel sector, therefore they will have earned their summer payment,

- and because the notifications have arrived later than in previous tax years.

In this sense, the Town Hall wants to make clear that the responsibility of the notification's delay relies on the previous government team, whose instructions provoked said delay. The government team does not want to cause a prejudice to the citizens, therefore it has been decided to extend the procedure so they can accomplish with the tax payment.

On the other hand, and in view of the citizens complaints received at this consistory, because what they can see reflected on their invoice does not corresponds to what was promised in the previous legislature, the current municipal government team wants to clarify that:

- the previous consistory announced a 24% discount on the property tax,

- at that time the current Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal (then the opposition's spokesperson), alerted that this information could not be given to the citizens as it was not real, because probably would produce a percentage of reduction around the 2 o 4%, and not in all cases, at the same time alerted that the decrease of the tax rate would benefit much more to higher cadastral values.

Now the consistory is receiving the complaints of the citizens who see how their expectations created by the announcement of the Consistory in the previous legislature are not being accomplished.

Therefore, the Calvià Town Hall regrets the damages that the citizens of the muncipality can suffer, so, in order to reduce these damages as much as possible and using the possible legal tools at this moment in time, decides to extend the payment procedure until 14th August, without surcharge.
