The representatives of Calvià in the World Police and Fire Games achieved 8 medals.
The Mayor has welcomed three of the four police officers who represented Calvià in the Police and Firemen Olympic Games.
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has welcomed three of the four representatives of the Local Police of Calvià who participated in the World Police and Fire Games which took place from 26th June until 5th July in the city of Fairfax, Virginia (USA).
The outcome has been very positive as they have achieved 8 medals in a worldwide competition in which have participated about 12.000 athletes of 70 countries.
These have been the results:
Joana Maria Perelló:
Gold in Star Race
Gold in 800 m. track
Bronze in 10 Km.Cross Country
Bronze in 1.500
Bartolomé Horrach:
Gold in 10 Km. Cross Country
Olivia Torrico:
Gold in 100 m. free-style swimming
Silver in 50 m. free-style swimming
(4th in 3.000 m. open water swimming)
Ana Reynés:
Bronze in 800 m. free-style swimming
Both competitions, the World Police and the Fire Games take place every two years and where thanks to sport, exists an exchange of experiences amongst police officers and firemen of the whole world in a great environment of camaraderie amongst all the participants, at the same time that keeps them fit.
Also, the Deputy Mayor Delegate for Security, Andreu Serra, and the Police Chief of Calvià, José Luis Rubiales attended the event.
