The Mayor of Calvia, together with the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés, has visited the facilities of the Adult Education Centre, after having received the director of CEPA in Calvia's Town Hall. This is one of the first visits that Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has made at the beginning of this legislature. The town councillor of Calvià was able to weigh up the situation and needs of the centre.
The CEPA of Calvia is an adult education centre result of an agreement between the Regional Ministry of Education and the Town Hall of Calvià. The recipients are people over 18 -or who turn 18 before 31st December of the year in which they want to enroll- whether they are resident in the municipality or in any other one of the Balearic Islands. Exceptionally, people over 16 who can not attend regular schools because they are working (with a formal contract), can also enroll.
In the academic year 2014/15, 850 students have been registered in the centre (8'91% less than in the previous year); 741 people (15'89% less than in the previous year) have taken part in the courses, and 520 have completed their studies (61% of all registered), out of which 63'29% are women.
