IV Passejada per la Memòria from Puigpunyent to Calvià
The IV Passejada per la Memòria from Puigpunyent to Calvià organised by the Associació de Memòria de Mallorca took place on Friday, and in which the Calvià Town Hall participated with the placing of a plaque in remembrance of the victims who were assassinated by the Francoist repression.
During the event, the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the Mayor of Puigpunyent, Biel Ferrà, uncovered the commemorative plaque, located near the common grave of the Calvià cemetery, and dedicated some words of remembrance, affection and solidarity to the victims and their families, some of whom descendants were at the ceremony.
Bartomeu Garí, historian and member of the Associació de Memòria de Mallorca, was the one in charge of giving the speech with the historical description of the facts and the contribution of the testimonies of direct witnesseses of the assassinations.
A flower offering took place and a candle was lit in remembrance of each and every of the victims. The musical perfomance of the soprano Maià Planes, and the musicians Joan Fiol and Pere Fiol, put and end to the ceremony to which attended residents of Calvià, Galilea and Puigpunyent.
