The Mayor reaffirmed at the grants presentation event the commitment of the government team to education. 30 students of the municipality have entered in the Summer grants programme in private companies

The Calvià Town Hall has been the scenario chosen to hold the certificates presentation event of the Summer grants programme in private companies, in which 30 students of the municipality and 11 private companies have participated this year.

The objectives of these grants are: offer a practice training in collaborating entities which contribute to guarantee the professional qualification improvement to university and formative course students; facilitate the knowledge acquirement of the work methology adapted to the prefessional reality in which the students will have to operate, matching and applying the knowledge acquired; favour the development of technical, methodological, personal and participative competencies; acquire a practice experience which facilitates the insertion in the labour market and improve their future employability, and favour the values of the innovation, the creativity and the entrepreneuship.

The Mayor reaffirmed the commitment of the Town Hall to education, because “Education is equal opportunities” in the event, in which also had they say the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion, responsible for the area of education, and the vice rector of Pupils, Graduates and Employability, Margarita Payeras. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal added that “Calvià will continue with the commitment to grants, education and its youth”, recalling the extraordinary announcement of grants which, in October this year, the Town Hall will open with the total amount of 40.000 euros aimed at university students to defray the costs arised from the transport, the payment of fees, material and books.

The Mayor had words of gratitute for the UIB for its collaboration, for the Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB) for its task, and for the companies for their involvement. He also congratulated the University Centre of Calvià (CUC) in its 20th anniversary, highlighting that, in educational matters, Calvià has always been pioneer.
