The reorganisation works are due to be finished before the start of the tourist season
The refurbishment works of the Magaluf Avenue, the Eucaliptus Street of Peguera and the Magaluf Square, started last Tuesday with the implementation of prospecting testings. In order to avoid the maximum damage to the establishments and businesses of said areas, the Mayor of Calvià and the Vice President of the Regional Government and Regional Minister for Innovation, Research and Tourism, committed, during the meeting held at the Town Hall in the last month of August, to start the works on the first days of November and to finish them before the beginning of the season. The machines are working since 3rd November.
The Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Highways and Works and Maintenance, Juan Cuadros, recalled that these works are the start of a series of actions which will be carried out throughout the legislature in the whole municipality of Calvià, in order to modernise the spaces and improve the services to both, residents and the tourists visiting the area.
On his behalf, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Commerce and Urban Planning, Antonio García Moles, highlighted that the reorganisation of the surroundings is the commitment that the public administration has to progress in the transformation of the mature areas of the municipality, along with the private initiative, this is to say, hoteliers and bussinessmen of the associated offer.
Works:
II Phase of the Magaluf Avenue:
The works are due to be finished by the end of March.
The budget for the whole work, this is to say, of the I and the II phase, is 1.119.904 €.
It is a very busy tourist and a commercial street, which will become Acire, thus restricting the road traffic to residents and to loading and unloading purposes. The works will be completed with an intervention in Galeón St. to allow the exit to the rest of the road traffic.
The works include an extension of the pavement, the renovation of sewage water plumbing, the burying of electricity and telephony cables, the preinstallation for natural gas, and the installation of fiber optics.
Magaluf Square:
The works are due to be finished by the end of January.
The works' budget ascends to 215.253 €
The works will allow to integrate the square into the Magaluf Avenue, levelling the heights, thus facilitating the access to the square itself and to the bussinesses and establishments which are located in said square.
Eucaliptus St. in Peguera:
The works are due to be finished by the end of March.
The works' budget ascends to 644.657 €
The works consist in extending the pavement. Furthermore, all those underground services will be renovated: sewage waters. Also, electricity and telephony cables will be buried, fiber optics will be installed and a preinstallation for natural gas will be undertaken. Once the works are finished, the street will be adapted for people with reduced capacity.
