During 5 days, pupils and tourists will participate by reforesting the areas affected by fires

The Calvià Town Hall's Department of Environment and the Calvià for the Climate Office, together with Xarxa Forestal and IBANAT of the Regional Ministry for Environment organise five reforestation Days in different areas of the municipality affected by fires in which will participate pupils of different education centres of the municipality as well as visitors coordinated by the hotel associations.

The objective of these Days is to reforest the maximum surface affected along with the realisation of maintenance tasks in the areas where they had already worked on in previous years. The main aim of the action is to maintain the attractiveness of the area's landscape and recuperate the environmental value and the CO2 absorption capacity of the lost forest mass. What is also expected with this type of activities is to raise awareness amongst the participating volunteers in the respect for the environment and the preservation of the natural heritage.

They will count on the participation of the schools which are part of the Agenda Local 21 Escolar -CEIP Son Caliu and Puig de Sa Morisca-, as well as the Hotel Associations of Palmanova-Magaluf and Peguera. It is expected the participation of approximately 250 volunteers between pupils and tourists.
