CALVIÀ TOWN HALL INTENSIFIES THE COLLABORATION WITH THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT AND THE CIM IN EQUALITY POLICIES

The municipal institution is developing the Equality Plan within the frame of the Town Hall's Commitment against gender violence

Both, the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Mayte Albertí, met this week with the Director of the Institut Balear de la Dona, Rosa Cursach, and the insular Director of Equality, Nina Parrón, to intensify the collaboration of the institutions in matters of Equality. The meetings were also attended by the technician of the Social Welfare Service, Cristina Gamundi, the manageress of the Instituto Municipal de Educación y Bibliotecas (IMEB, Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries), and the technician of the IMEB, Sandra Sedano.

At these meetings, the development of the Equality Plan which the Calvià Town Hall has already started for the municipality, as well as the actions which are being carried out with different collectives, were informed to the responsibles of woman policies of the Regional Government and the Consell de Mallorca.

From the Town Hall, it has expressed satisfaction with the collaboration commitment shown by the regional and insular responsibles, not only in the development and the implementation of the Plan but also in the will of giving a new impetus to the cooperation between the administrations.

At the meeting with the director of the Institut Balear de la Dona it has been agreed, moreover, to improve the coordination, and it has been detected the need of promoting equality plans in schools aimed at the entire education community, as well as recovering services that were carried out with local councils and that were eliminated.

As for the meeting with the insular director of Equality, it has been committed by both administrations to work jointly, amongst other things, in the creation of spaces for women driving the associationism or implementing actions proposed from l'Escola de Genèrica: Escola per la Igualtat of the Consell de Mallorca.

Calvià Town Hall directs its Equality policies from a cross view, and with a special attention on education. In this sense, workshops are being programmed in schools, growth groups and empowerment for women meetings are undertaken, and there is a Technical Committee in which are involved all the municipal departments and entities to work against gender violence.
