Clarifications of Calvià Town Hall regarding the Local Police's Night Unit

Given the statements made by a syndicate regarding the Night Unit of the Local Police of Calvià, Calvià Town Hall wants to make a number of clarifications and explanations:

It is not true that agents of the Night Unit had resigned as it is stated. 19 of the 22 agents, have requested through regulatory duct a change of destination which, at this time, and within the negotiation process, will be open to the entire workforce. Therefore, the Night Unit of the Local Police of Calvià continues operating normally, with the staff of civil servants in force at the moment.

Secondly, the Local Police is in a restructuring process, with the creation of new units. At no time in this process it has raised eliminating the Night Unit, but maintains and enhances it.

The restructuring involves new working conditions for all the staff. It is in the process of negotiating these new working conditions, which do not include, under any circumstances, the disappearance of the night unit. Moreover, the conditions that are promoted by the administration for the night unit, are entirely the ones that the unions have proposed.

Regarding the previous working conditions -which still govern the staff- it must be clarified that respond to a shift distribution system which the government team understood from the outset that does not complies with current legislation in matters of effective working hours (the set of working hours is below to what the basic state legislation marks).

Amongst the improvements that the government team has put on the table, there is a very important economic improvement of their salary conditions.

There is a meeting with unions tomorrow to finalise the negotiation process.

Finally, the municipal government team wants to clarify that the situation set out does not help what is pursued: improving the image of the local police in front of the citizens.
