CALVIÀ PRESENTS ITS OFFER FOR SPORTS TOURISM AT THE ITB OF BERLIN
The Town Hall attends the tourist fair to promote the municipality as an ideal destination for the practice of sports throughout the whole year
Calvià presents its offer to attract sports tourism at the ITB tourist fair of Berlin. The Town Hall's delegation, headed by the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, attends the tourist fair in the German capital to promote the sports side of the municipality.
Today, at the celebration of Balearic Islands Day at the ITB, the Mayor, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles, and the Councillor of the area of Peguera, Juan Cuadros, has appraised upwards the expectations, which are being informed at the fair, not only for the high season but also for the mid-season, regarding the arrival of German visitors to the municipality.
Rodríguez Badal stresses the importance of lengthening the season because this will affect in more and better jobs for the citizens of Calvià.
In this line, of offering a deseasonlising product, is framed the presentation that Calvià will give tomorrow of its sports offer, with the main events planned for 2016.
The good weather conditions of the island, along with the many facilities in the municipality and the excellent natural environment are the best proposal for those athletes who want to perform preparatory training for competitions, rest practicing their favourite sport, or just improve their physical conditions.

- 20th March - K42Mallorca: mountain marathon, which goes through the sites of Es Galatzó. Perfect for trail running, mountain and nature lovers. Distances: 42 km or 21 km. Web: http://www.k42mallorca.com
-From 10th to 14th April - Mallorca Walking Event: hiking activity addressed to international public which goes through 4 stages of between 15 and 30 kilometres per day, routes that combine landscapes in which nature, the native fauna and the mountains are the protagonists with other tourist attractions related to culture, the historical and architectural heritage or the coast line. - From 30th April to 1st May- Majorca Beach Rugby Tournament: event which once more will take place on the beach of Magaluf, where last year it was played in 8 pitches and more than three thousand spectators witnessed the event along the weekend. - From 5th to 9th May - Mallorca Football Tournament: event which is held every year in Mallorca. Teams from around the world have participated in this tournament, consisting of two modalities: Mallorca Football Tournament for members of the Police Force, the Fire Department, members of the Army, Customs employees, Town Halls, Ministries and Civil Servants; Mallorca Football Tournament open to all kinds of amateur teams. - From 13th to 19th June - WTA Mallorca Open: event which will take place in Santa Ponça and will be the first tournament played on grass in Spain and will perform, for the first time worldwide, evening sessions on grass since none of the tournaments that are played until now, in the men's or women's category (Wimbledon, Queen's, S'Hertogenbosch, Nottingham, Eastbourne, Birmingham, Newport ...), count on this modality. - 15th October- Half Challenge Peguera Mallorca: athletes will face 1.9 km swimming between 2 beaches. After they will cycle 90 km through the traditional villages, mountains, coast line and urban landscapes that make up the municipality of Calvià to finish with a 21 km race through the heart of Peguera, its boulevard and the beach promenade.
