THE TOWN HALL SIGNS AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FOUNDATION RANA FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILD ABUSE

The consistory provides 3,850 euros for the 'Crida ben Fort!' (shout loud!) programme

The Calvià Town Hall has signed a collaboration agreement with the Foundation RANA through which it will allocate 3,850 euros in 2016 for the implementation and development of the"Crida ben Fort!" programme in the municipality of Calvià. The agreement has been signed by the Mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the president of the Foundation RANA, Beatriz Benavente.

The signing of this agreement means that an item for this entity is included for the first time in the municipal budgets and an agreement of this characteristics is signed, thus allowing to implement in the municipality the methodology of the Foundation's programme that provides tools and teaches skills to children so they can detect hazardous situations and react to them.

The "Crida ben Fort" programme, which will be offered to the eleven public primary schools in the municipality, will include three types of activities: storytelling for children between 6 and 11 years old, talks for parents, and workshops for the teaching staff. The initial forecast is to hold a workshop for the teaching staff, two talks for parents, and 44 story-telling activities.

The Foundation RANA (Abused Children Help Network) is a non-profit association in the Balearics which its social function is to prevent the child abuse and the child sexual abuse through awareness and education activities. The Foundation RANA works to create a better future, where the rights of children are respected and where they are protected from any situation that might lead to mistreatment or abuse.

The Foundation RANA is provided with the Crida ben Fort! project that contributes to raise awareness amongst the children and that they can identify themselves in different situations of mistreatment and abuse and learn to react. The creation of this project comes from the story ¡Estela, grita muy fuerte! (Estela, shout very loud!), where the author, Isabel Olid, offers the children a tool to teach them to be respected.

The signing event was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the Councillor for Social Welfare and Senior Citizens, Mayte Albertí; the Director General for Social Development and Equality, Ana Pérez; and Patricia Moliner, responsible of the RANA Projects.
