The Mayor of Calvià and Healt councillor laid the first stone of the new Bendinat Healt unit on June 7.
The Mayor of Calvia, Carlos Delgado and Health councillor Aina Castillo laid the first stone of the new Bendinat Health unit on June 7th. This Health centre requires an investment of 1.9 million euros and will serve in excess of 6000 citizens. The building project carried out by Hispanica S.A. is working to a timescale of 12 months.
The centre will consist of a ground floor and a first floor, occupying a total of 1073 square metres on a plot which measures 5144 square metres.
There will be seven consulting rooms ( 2 family medicine, 2 treatment rooms, 2 paediatric, one general surgery and a midwifery room.
The administration area will have a meeting room, office, filing room and a reception area. There will be 6 toilets, two of which are to be adapted for disabled patients. And 2 vending machines.
The plan for the centre has been developed by Social services for the Balearic islands and includes eight medical professionals, 2 General practitioners, 1 Paediatrician, 3 nurses, 1 auxiliary nurse and an administrator.
The centre, deigned by the architects Antoni Planas and Miquel Serra is a compact building adapted to the sloping terrain of the area and with seperate entrances for the public and staff along with 2 emergency entrances. It is planned with good linear flow, inter floor access and communication in mind.
The newly developed plans break through architectural barriers and allows all areas to be filled with ventilation and natural light. Bendinats new health centre, close to the Palma-Andratx road will be the central health centre for Calvia village as will Son Dureta be the appointed hospital.
