Tourist offices attend 407 people a day on average
The offices, that are open all year, attended 147,506 visitors in 2015
The municipal tourist information offices of Calvià attended 147,506 tourists during 2015. The German visitors accounted for 31.19% of consultations, followed by British holidaymakers with 30.24% and Spanish tourists with 19.94%. French visitors were 7.41% of consultations, Italians 3.38% and Scandinavians with 3.33%. An average of 407 visitors are attended every day, and about one in every twelve tourists visiting the municipality throughout the year.
There was a significant increase in French visitors, 14.34%. Consultations by German and Italian tourists also rose considerably, 9.48% and 6.54% respectively. British holidaymakers however fell 4.37%. Reflecting the international situation was also the sharp decline in consultations by Russian visitors, 89.01%.
In 2016, the tourist offices are participating again with hotels in the inscriptions for the 'Calvià, el invierno europeo' programme, the free activities for visitors staying in tourist accomodation in the low season months, from October to April.
Calvià is committed to advance in the deseasonalisation of tourism in order to contribute to an employment improvement and economic activity of the tourist areas of the municipality. In this sense, the tourist offices have a very important role in deseasonalisation, because visitors receive information, help and advice when a substantial part of the tourist offer is closed. In fact, Calvià's tourist offices receive more tourists in the mid season months than in the high season. Proof of this is that in 2015 the visitor's average of March, April, May, June, September and October was 14.19% higher than average of July and August. Even the average of inquiries received in March and October exceeded 1.40% the average of July and August. In the low season months -January, February, November and December- the tourist offices attended 16,554 people.
In addition to tourist visits, and in order to bring the administration closer to citizens and provide better service to residents, some municipal procedures can be done in tourist offices such as issuance of residence and travel certificates. Last year 56,134 people attended the four offices for municipal issues. Complaints and queries received by email and by phone are also accounted for in this section. Worth noting is that 41,079 certificates have been issued in total, thus avoiding many unnecessary trips to the town hall.
Calvià has four tourist offices that open 362 days a year. The tourist information offices are certified with the Q for tourism quality and help visitors with information on the municipality and the island. Being tourism the main economic factor of the municipality, the City Council has implemented two quality management systems: Q for tourism quality in beaches and Q for tourism quality in municipal tourist information offices. Both management systems are certified by external organizations, that through audits certify that the tourist offices meet the rigorous quality standards established by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE).
