The Calvià Town Hall's responsibles of Participation have been invited as speakers at this international meeting

Iberian Meeting on Participatory Budgeting.

The Calvià Town Hall participates, through the Department of Citizen Participation, in an international meeting which is held these days in Ponta Delgada (Azores-Portugal), as it was reported in a statement last Tuesday 5th April.

The Calvià Town Hall has been the only Town Hall of Mallorca invited to the III Iberian Meeting on Participatory Budgeting, and the responsibles of Citizen Participation of the Town Hall, the Deputy Mayor Israel Molina, the Councillor Fernando Alcaraz and the Director General Juan Antonio Marcos, participate as guest speakers at this conference in which also participate responsibles of other municipalities such as Madrid, Ponta Delgada, Lisbon, Paris or New York.

In these working meetings, the Deputy Mayor for Citizen Participation, intervenes in a talk in which explains the outline of the participatory strategic planning system as part of the future comprehensive structure of participation of Calvià. Besides, other realities and participation systems which can serve to enrich the Calvian project are known.

As it has been explained in previous statements, the department is working for months in this process, which, amongst other things, will allow Calvià becoming pioneer in the implementation of technological tools to promote the citizen participation. Furthermore, they have held meetings with neighbourhood associations to report on the participatory processes to be started up (which were already reported in October), and they have been working with the various municipal departments.

These basic lines, in which the Participation Department is working, consider the participatory budgets that aim to open the debate with the citizenship on the situation and needs of the municipality and its options for improvement, and that will be presented shortly.

The Town Hall is satisfied with the fact that Calvià is a user help centre at national and international level in matters of Citizen Participation, and a benchmark for the implementation of tools to involve citizens in the municipal policies. The participation is a commitment of the current government team agreed in the investiture agreements.

Finally, it is reported that the Town Hall has only paid for the travel expenses.

Of the possible options, it has been chosen the most economical. The most expensive and most convenient option cost 3,014.85 euros (total of three tickets, round trip). The one chosen is the most economical with a cost of 1,262.16 euros (total of three tickets, round trip), representing 20 hours one way trip, and another 20 hours back.

Both, accommodation and full board are chargeable to the organisation of the event.

The meeting ends on Saturday 9
th, nevertheless the responsibles for Citizen Participation of Calvià Town Hall will be back that day as they will not attend the scheduled entertainment events, to join into work on Monday.
