CALVIÀ HAS PARTICIPATED IN THE CONFERENCE OF THE EUROPEAN PROJECT 'RANDO POUR LA CULTURE' ORGANISED BY THE CONSELL DE MALLORCA

Attendees were able to discover the Galatzó public estate through the Tramuntana's itinerary and perform various activities related to the natural and ethnological heritage of the estate.

The Calvià Town Hall has participated in the hiking days of the European project 'Rando pour la Culture' organised by the Consell de Mallorca. The municipalities of Calvià, Sóller and Fornalutx participate in the second phase of the European project organised by the Department of Environment of the Consell de Mallorca. The project aims to involve people to actively participate in the preservation and appreciation of the natural and ethnological heritage through the practice of hiking.

Both, the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and technical secretary of the Department of Environment of the Consell de Mallorca, Marta Thomàs Reinés, accompanied by the councillors Antonio García Moles, Nati Francés, Mayte Albertí and Francisca Muñoz welcomed the participants.

In the latter of the three days that have been conducted, participants were able to discover the Galatzó public estate through the Tramuntana's itinerary. It has been an opportunity to learn the traditional operation of a mountain 'possessió' property as well as the landscapes and legends generated around one of the most emblematic mountains of the island.

The day began with a guided tour of about 4 kilometres in the itinerary Argolla-Tramuntanal with explanations of the archaeologist Manel Calvo. Once the tour ended, participants have eaten in the houses of Galatzó, and then were able to enjoy cultural activities for everyone. Adults have had the opportunity to attend the conference entitled "Paisatge i sobrenaturalitat. El cas del Comte Mal i el Galatzó" by Carlos Garrido, while children have had an introduction about the figure of the Comte Mal and a printing T-shirts workshop. There has also been a guided tour to the estate's old 'tafona'.
